Irony is one of the most fun ways to make a design interesting. The more you think about the design, the more you are rewarded.
This branding was for Summitview’s series exploring both the pros and the cons of technology.
I chose to go with a dominantly blue design, since blue is a two-sided color that can sometimes feel positive and comforting and sometimes can feel dangerous, reflecting the duality of technology. The design drew from the equally charming and foreboding title sequences inspired by the work of Saul Bass, including the title sequences for Catch Me If You Can and FX’s Feud.
The design was animated, as an ironic twist—our technology-based series would be the most technologically advanced. The animation was put on the website as well as on the presentation templates that the pastors used for their slides.
The branding was adapted to an invite card, a poster, a guidebook, multimedia presentations, and several web images.
