Things that start off being made by hand often retain that feeling of care and intentionality, even if it ends up being refined on a screen.
With Summitview’s rebrand, they were looking to create some new merchandise to create a sense of unity among the church members. I was tasked with creating several new shirt designs.
The text is Summitview’s slogan “Love Like Jesus.” Putting this text forward helps members feel a part of Summitview and presents a positive and winsome message to non-Summitview members who see the shirt being worn.
This design was hand lettered to make the shirt feel designed rather than just like some text thrown onto a shirt. The design was printed on a dark navy to avoid the design from feeling too effeminate, especially to a more conservative audience.
This shirt is the most popular of the three I designed for Summitview. This shirt was printed in seven different sizes and has sold out of every non-plus size, counting more than 85 sales even in competition with the other shirt designs. The stickers sold out on the first night they were available and sold out within a few weeks after a second printing.
